Defined as a "mature public affirmation" of faith. (BCP, p.412.) For those baptized as infants or young children, it serves to confirm the vows that were made at the baptism. Those desiring to be confirmed must be baptized and have completed a course of instruction. Confirmation is performed by a bishop with the laying on of hands. The Bishop's visit is also the time at which those who have made a mature public affirmation of faith in other Christian denominations may be received into the Episcopal Church. Confirmation is eligible to students 8th grade through adults who have been Baptized. Classes will pertain to the Bible & scripture, prayer & creeds, the sacraments, the Book of Common Prayer (BCP), the history of the Episcopal Church and other topics related to Christian formation. Adult Confirmation class will meet for eight consecutive Sundays directly after worship, 12:15-1:30 p.m.
Is an in-church spiritual retreat. Those who participate are called a Pilgrim. As a Pilgrim you are an honored guest and the Discovery team does its very best to take care of everything you might need during the weekend. It is a chance to participate in 48 hours of thought, prayer and creative sharing with members of the congregation.
