From the Rector

Dear Friends,

Praise God! Our Father continues to answer my prayers. Now that we are settled in our new building, Christian Education for all ages is taking off in a very positive and exciting direction.

Acts 2:42 says, They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayers. Theologically we call these the four notes of the early Church. These notes served as the foundational practices for the early Church and they became the vehicle through which God provided spiritual health and growth.

God continues to call his Church to be diligent in these foundational practices and it is in obedience to this call that I reestablish my vision for the St. Cuthbert faith community.

First, it is our responsibility to help people grow to be more like Jesus Christ. Jesus desires that we develop his character; the way he thinks, the way he acts, the way he feels, his values and his moral integrity.

Second, it is our focus to “Build the Kingdom of God TOGETHER.” In order to attain this focus we need to promote a spirit of fellowship among our church community. Rick Warren describes fellowship as, “two fellows on the same ship.” In other words, we are called to live in harmony so that even though we are a diverse community, we recognize that we share a common vision and goal in Christ. Amazing blessing then comes as committed people journey together with a shared focus. This is the unity of Spirit that God intends for the family of God; loving God’s family is fellowship.
