Fr. Malcolm Ellis and wife Tessa retired to Houston, TX from the Diocese of Maryland. Fr. Ellis was ordained an Anglican priest in South Africa. While serving as a parish priest in Chicago, Fr. Ellis completed his Master of Divinity and a Doctor of Ministry at the Chicago Theological Seminary and then the family returned to minister in South Africa.
The Ellis family immigrated to the USA in 1987. While residing in this country, he has been an Episcopal parish priest in Illinois, Florida, Texas, Minnesota and Maryland.
Fr. Ellis and Tessa have five children and nine grandchildren, and two of the children and eight of the grandchildren live in Houston! A significant part of their retirement has been dedicated to travel.
Sally Mahon has been a member of St. Cuthbert since 2005. She began her career here as Ministry Coordinator in 2006 and subsequently became Youth Minister in 2019. She has answered God’s call to serve by serving wherever she is needed and she does so gracefully. Sally coordinates events for the Youth Group such as mission trips and spring break activities, writing and leading Bible studies, attending football games and band concerts (among the many other extracurricular events the youth are a part of), and most especially, hanging out with, encouraging, and ministering to the St. Cuthbert youth.
Sally is a native Texan and a native Houstonian. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University where she met her husband Russel. She has been married since 1995. They have two children, a daughter and son, both in college. She enjoys trying to keep up with her busy family and church community, reading, and traveling with the family.
Her favorite Bible verse is 1 John 3:18 Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.
Barbara Adams has been the Music Minister since 1990. She is a native born Texan and has spent most of her life here. Her heart for worship and passion for all types of music has brought about a vibrant and diverse repertoire of traditional and contemporary worship music that flows with the liturgical year. Her dedication extends beyond the choir and worship team as she works closely with the sound and visual tech ministries, staff, St. Cuthbert School, and special event groups throughout the year to provide a symphony of sound.
Barbara graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in applied music on trumpet. She is married to Randy, a professional musician, and they have raised four beautiful daughters. She maintains a trumpet studio in the Cy-Fair area, and in her spare time loves home improvement projects and studying the Bible.
Her favorite Bible verse is Luke 12:48b …from everyone to whom much has been given, much will be required: and from the one whom much has been entrusted, even more will be demanded.
Melinda Wahl started at St. Cuthbert School as the assistant director and later answered God's call to be the school director. She loves the Lord and enjoys sharing her knowledge on early child care. She is excited to see what God has planned for her and the school.
Melinda is a native Texan, enjoys music and traveling with her family. She has been married over 20 years and has two daughters, a cat and dog. She holds a Business Management degree alongside a Child Care Director's Credential.
Her favorite Bible Verse is: Romans 8:28 We know that all things work together for the good of those who love God: those who are called according to His purpose.
Jeanna Villanueva is our talented pianist who has been serving in music ministry for 18 years. In addition to being the being pianist at St. Cuthbert, she is a music teacher at the Carter Academy for the Performing Arts in Aldine ISD. She also sings with the Houston Symphony Chorus as an alto.
Jeanna began playing the piano at age five. She graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Musicology. Her husband, Janu, is a guitar instructor and professional musician. Their two daughters, Arabella and Micaella, occasionally serve with them in the music ministry.
She is encouraged and challenged daily to live by Micah 6:8: He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
Estella Bernal has been working in St. Cuthbert’s nursery for over eight years. She retired from Hostess Cakes after 28 years. She is married and has three grown children and five grandchildren who are her pride and joy! Estella loves to love on our babies. She enjoys spending time outside working with her plants. Her favorite Bible verse is Luke 6:31 "Do to others as you would have them do to you."
